Job Description
Job Summary:The School Psychologist supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success of all students through assessment, consultation, and intervention. This role involves working collaboratively with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen student outcomes and promote equity.
Key Responsibilities:Assessment & Evaluation - Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and related services.
- Administer, score, and interpret standardized cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral assessments.
- Prepare clear, concise, and legally defensible reports summarizing evaluation results.
- Participate in IEP and eligibility meetings to share evaluation findings and recommendations.
Intervention & Support - Develop and help implement academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions.
- Provide short-term counseling or crisis intervention services to students as needed.
- Support implementation of MTSS/RTI and assist in progress monitoring for at-risk students.
Collaboration & Consultation - Consult with teachers, administrators, parents, and related service providers to support student learning and behavior.
- Participate in 504 Plan and Student Support Team (SST) meetings.
- Collaborate with community mental health providers and other outside agencies when appropriate.
Prevention & Systems Support - Promote positive school climates, mental health awareness, and culturally responsive practices.
- Support school-wide initiatives such as PBIS, SEL, and crisis preparedness.
- Assist with training and professional development for staff on behavior management, trauma-informed practices, and other relevant topics.
Required Qualifications: - Master's, Specialist (Ed.S.), or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-approved program.
- Valid state certification/licensure as a School Psychologist.
- Knowledge of special education law (IDEA), Section 504, and FERPA.
- Experience with psychological testing instruments and data interpretation.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students and families.
Preferred Qualifications: - National Certification in School Psychology (NCSP) is preferred.
- Experience in school settings or with school-aged children.
- Training in trauma-informed practices, restorative practices, or behavioral intervention.
