Nurse Director of Emergency Services
Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Nurse Director of Emergency Services to lead our emergency department team. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with extensive nursing management experience, particularly in acute care settings, to ensure the delivery of exceptional patient care. The Nurse Director will oversee daily operations, coordinate interdisciplinary teams, and uphold compliance with healthcare regulations including HIPAA and Medicare standards. Ideal candidates possess strong management skills, proficiency with EMR/EHR systems, and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and anatomy relevant to emergency care. Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursing staff within the Emergency Services department, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
- Develop, implement, and review care plans tailored to emergency patients, incorporating best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee shift management to ensure appropriate staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational efficiency during all hours of service.
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage the utilization of EMR/EHR systems for documentation review, reporting, and quality assurance purposes.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive emergency care services.
- Ensure staff training on current protocols, medical terminology updates, and system usage to maintain clinical excellence.
- Monitor compliance with Medicare guidelines and other regulatory standards affecting emergency services.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, satisfaction, and clinical outcomes.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of resident's ; needs in assisted living or nursing home environments when applicable.
Experience
- Proven management experience in nursing administration within acute care or emergency settings.
- Extensive background in assisted living, nursing home experience, home health, hospice care, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated supervising experience with multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced environments.
- Familiarity with medical records management, documentation review processes, and medical terminology proficiency.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is essential.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to emergency medicine is required to support clinical decision-making.
