The Director of Facilities, Engineering, Safety, and Environmental Services is responsible for overseeing and
managing all aspects of facility operations, engineering, safety, and environmental compliance. This includes the
oversight, planning, and execution of maintenance, capital projects, engineering support, and environmental
initiatives to ensure a safe, sustainable, and efficient work environment, The Director will lead a multidisciplinary
team, collaborate with various departments, and work closely with senior management to ensure the organization's
facilities and operations meet all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and sustainability goals. The role
requires a balance of technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to drive operational excellence while
ensuring cost-effectiveness and risk mitigation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Facility Operations and Management: Oversee the operations and maintenance of all facilities,
including building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), grounds, environmental services, and
equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Engineering and Construction Oversight: Lead engineering initiatives related to facility design,
construction, renovations, and improvements. Manage capital projects, including budgeting,
scheduling, and resource allocation. Serves as Liaison with contractors, architects, engineers, and
material and equipment suppliers.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations,
including OSHA, EPA, HFAP, State Health Department, Chicago Department of PubLic Health, EPA,
DEP, ADA, UST, and other regulatory and business agencies. Develop and implement safety
programs, conduct audits, and mitigate potential risks, Serves as Hospital Safety Officer.
Sustainability Initiatives: Champion environmentally sustainable practices, ensuring energy
efficiency and the reduction of waste, water, and energy consumption
